John Lee Brougher is a veteran nonprofit leader, currently serving as the Director of Communications at the National Center for Youth Law. He leads NCYL's communications team and works to bring together internal and external teams with communications tools and strategies to advance systemic change for young people and their communities.

Prior to NCYL, he led the external affairs transformation at mental health nonprofit TRAILS, and before that served as the Head of Campaigns and Civic Engagement at ACE (Action for the Climate Emergency, formerly the Alliance for Climate Education), where he led ACE's efforts to build youth climate power and advocate for sustainable climate change policies for future generations. John has been a Movement Leader Fellow with the City University of New York's (CUNY) School of Labor and Urban Studies and a Fellow with the New Leaders Council and the People for the American Way Foundation.

John is a transracial Korean adoptee, and his background is a core part of his identity. Weaving together those intersecting (and often conflicting) identities drives his commitment to ensuring that the organizations he leads are equity-driven, and his passion for creating systems and accountability that empower safe, thoughtful, and impactful work.
