NCYL statement on passage of federal budget package

Following the passage of a budget reconciliation bill that directly jeopardizes the health, dignity, safety, and rights of children across the country, Shakti Belway, Executive Director of the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL), released the following statement:

"This budget is a devastating betrayal of children, their families, and their communities. At a moment when young people face mounting crises — in access to health care, education, safety, and basic needs such as food, safe drinking water, and housing — the majority of federal lawmakers have chosen cuts and criminalization over care and community. Our nation’s children and families deserve better. Today, Congress failed them."
