NCYL’s Compassionate Systems team is excited to share our Monterey demonstration site 2018/19 program progress report

. NCYL launched our demonstration in 2018 in partnership with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD) to support students experiencing homelessness to improve their educational outcomes. Our Education Liaisons are collocated within high school sites at MPUSD, providing intensive educational case management and advocacy.

We are pleased to share that our student's year one achievements include a lower school mobility rate as compared to other students experiencing homeless students locally. Additionally, 85% of our students graduated compared to 73% of students experiencing homelessness statewide, and many of our students went on to pursue post-secondary education opportunities.

Read more about our work with MPUSD, and within the county working with partners to raise awareness of barriers young people face engaging in their education while experiencing homelessness and collaborative solutions.
