Give from Your Donor-Advised Fund

Your DAF can help every child’s voice be heard.
A grant from your donor-advised fund is one of the most powerful ways to fuel systemic change for children and youth. In a few clicks, your gift becomes legal advocacy, policy reform, and a future transformed.
Why Give via DAF
For over 50 years, the National Center for Youth Law has fought for children. That fight is more important than ever.
Whether it’s challenging a school district that pushes children with disabilities out of the classroom, defending the rights of incarcerated youth, or reforming systems that fail immigrant children — our work depends on donors who are thinking strategically about their giving.
Giving through your donor-advised fund is one of the smartest, most flexible ways to support that work. It costs you nothing extra, and it helps us plan for lasting impact rather than crisis-by-crisis fundraising.

What Your Grant Makes Possible
“At the center of everything we do is an unwavering belief in human dignity at every age, especially for children who are most vulnerable. Your DAF gift makes that belief actionable.”
Shakti Belway, Executive Director
Your grant recommendation to NCYL supports:
- Impact litigation that dismantles discriminatory policies in schools, courts, and government agencies
- Policy advocacy at the state and federal level to reform foster care, youth justice, and immigration systems
- Community partnerships that put young people at the center of the change they need most
- Research and data that holds systems accountable and drives evidence-based reform
Give More, Give Smarter
Donors who use DAFs typically give more, and their impact on organizations they care about grows significantly once they begin granting from their fund. Scheduling a recurring annual grant is a simple way to become a sustained champion for children’s rights.
You can also name the National Center for Youth Law as a beneficiary of your DAF account — a meaningful way to create a lasting legacy for the next generation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a donor-advised fund? A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account — often described as a “charitable savings account” — held at a sponsoring organization like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or a community foundation. You contribute assets (cash, stock, or other property), receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to eligible nonprofits like NCYL over time.
Is NCYL eligible to receive DAF grants? Yes. As a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 94-2506933), the National Center for Youth Law is eligible to receive grant recommendations from all major DAF sponsors.
Can I designate my grant for a specific program? Yes. You’re welcome to designate your grant to a specific area of our work — such as youth justice, education advocacy, immigration, or foster system reform — or direct it to our greatest need through an unrestricted gift. Contact us at development@youthlaw.org to discuss.
How long does it take for my grant to arrive? Processing times vary by DAF sponsor, but most grants arrive within 1–3 weeks. To avoid delays, make sure to use our full legal name and EIN when submitting.
Will I receive a tax receipt? Because you received your tax deduction when you contributed to your DAF, NCYL is not required to and typically cannot provide a tax receipt for DAF grants. Your DAF sponsor handles all tax documentation.
Can I make my grant anonymous? Yes. Most DAF sponsors allow anonymous granting. If you’d like to be recognized or want to ensure we can properly steward your gift, you’re welcome to include your contact information in the grant notes.
