The Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth
The Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth (RHEP) is a public-private collective impact campaign coordinated by NCYL, dedicated to end inequitable reproductive health outcomes for youth in foster care and support the healthy sexual development and bodily autonomy of young people. We bring together public agencies and community partners to change mental models, build trust, develop and implement innovative programming and policy, and transform systems and community responses.
Under the supervision of NCYL’s Senior Director of Health, the Director will move NCYL’s work as the convener and driver of RHEP with the support of a small team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, organized, resourceful individual interested in systems change to join a high functioning team that works with a diverse group of youth and community partners.
- Lead a team managing implementation of projects with multiple contributors and deliverables
- Support NCYL’s Senior Director of Health with development of the RHEP strategic plan
- Develop and drive implementation of project workplans that include multiple streams of work
- Support and help lead the planning and facilitation of RHEP leadership, team, and workgroup meetings
- Lead implementation of RHEP’s youth and community engagement plan to ensure equitable and meaningful contribution opportunities, including management of the RHEP youth advisory board
- Lead implementation of RHEP’s strategic communications and evaluation plans
- Plan and lead implementation of RHEP events, including conferences, youth convenings, webinars, and listening sessions
- Produce high quality program, training and promotional materials
- Manage grants including writing, reporting, budgeting, and relationship management
- Supervise team of two to four highly skilled individuals
- Commitment to advancing reproductive health equity in partnership with young people.
- Commitment to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience managing the implementation of projects with diverse partners and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage a team
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: law, public administration, public policy, advocacy campaigns, community organizing
- Experience working with young people of Color and/or in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems
- Familiarity and working knowledge of communications, including social media platforms and graphic design, and content management tools such as HootSuite
- Knowledge of and experience using meeting facilitation tools and techniques to ensure meetings are efficient, equitable and inclusive
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to develop rapport with people from a wide range of backgrounds and professional and lived experiences
- Ability to use a racial justice lens
- Familiarity with child welfare and/or reproductive justice
- Familiarity with trauma-informed / healing-centered practices
Salary, Benefits, and Location
This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is competitive at $129,736.00 or $142,710.00 annually. A geographic salary differential may be applied if the candidate resides somewhere other than the Oakland, CA, or Los Angeles, CA, areas.

This position is located in California. Some travel throughout the state will be required.
This position is eligible for 100% remote work through March 31, 2023. It is possible that in April 2023, NCYL will require people to work in an office, in which case they will need to be in a location where they can commute to the Oakland, CA or Los Angeles, CA office regularly. We are actively engaging in this conversation as an organization. We understand that the nature of the workplace has changed in general. We don't yet know what remote work will look like in 2023.
